Softball Recap: Christopher Cougars vs. Lincoln Lions

Christopher had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Lincoln Lions, falling 17-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 back in March.

Christopher saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Diaz Cruz, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Lincoln, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

On Lincoln's side, Carina Reuterskiold made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Reuterskiold has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lincoln got a massive performance out of Keona Perez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Perez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christopher will square off against Oak Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
