Football Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

After flying high against Walhalla last Friday, Liberty came back down to earth. The Red Devils took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crescent Tigers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Crescent's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Evans led the charge by throwing for 202 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 37 yards and one score. The Tigers' leading receiver Amiri Acker was Evans' top target yet again, picking up 132 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Crescent, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Liberty is taking a road trip to challenge Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty will need to watch out since Clinton has now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Crescent, they will host Walhalla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Razorbacks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
