Baseball Game Preview: Environmental Charter White Tigers vs. Rancho Dominguez Lobos

The Environmental Charter White Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Rancho Dominguez Lobos at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Environmental Charter was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over University.

Nathan Mada was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Environmental Charter let Christian Salazar and Carlos Leanos run wild. Salazar went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Leanos went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Leanos is becoming a predictor of Environmental Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Environmental Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University only posted a batting average of .138.

Meanwhile, Rancho Dominguez got themselves on the board against Animo Robinson on Saturday, but Animo Robinson never followed suit. They blew past the Monarchs 15-0.

The victory got Rancho Dominguez back to even at 7-7. As for Environmental Charter, their record is now 9-6.
