Softball Recap: Shasta Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Shasta ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Central Valley Falcons, sneaking past 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Jaycee Thrasher spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Soleil Waterman was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sheala Buelna, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory got Shasta back to even at 1-1. As for Central Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Shasta wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-1 defeat against Nevada Union on the 6th. As for Central Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Orland at 4:00 p.m.
