Baseball Game Preview: Twin Lakes Indians vs. West Lafayette Red Devils

The Twin Lakes Indians will face off against the West Lafayette Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Twin Lakes is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Clinton Central 7-5. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly two runs.

Twin Lakes saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Wagner, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Cooper Dold also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, West Lafayette gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Delphi Community.

Korbyn Keen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Keen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on LJ Whitford, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Colin Kastens, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Twin Lakes and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for West Lafayette, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Twin Lakes took their victory against West Lafayette in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
