Basketball Recap: Lutheran Falls to Mullen in First Game of Season

Lutheran kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 72-43 loss at the hands of the Mullen Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since December 6, 2024.

Evan Knapp was Lutheran's leading scorer, having posted five points.

Mullen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brycen Thacker, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Lewis, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten assists.

Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-60 victory against Grand Junction Central on the 4th. As for Mullen, they have also already played their next contest, a 65-50 loss against Denver East on the 3rd.
