Basketball Game Preview: Holy Name Green Wave vs. Elyria Catholic Panthers

Holy Name hasn't had much luck against Elyria Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Holy Name Green Wave will challenge the Elyria Catholic Panthers at 2:30 p.m.

Last Monday, Holy Name came up short against Lake Catholic and fell 43-36. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Elyria Catholic escaped with a win on Thursday against Beaumont School by the margin of a single free throw, 38-37. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 525th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holy Name now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Elyria Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Holy Name might still be hurting after the 60-34 loss they got from Elyria Catholic in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Holy Name avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
