Basketball Recap: Maranatha Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Maranatha Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. The contest between them and the Arthur-Okaw Christian Conquering Riders didn't end well, with the Maranatha Christian Academy Huskies falling 46-32. The Huskies were down 43-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Maranatha Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Dakota Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 71.9% of Maranatha Christian Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Maranatha Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Arthur-Okaw Christian, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maranatha Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Faith Bible Christian Academy/Mid-America Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Arthur-Okaw Christian and Heritage will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Arthur-Okaw Christian is facing Heritage at the right time seeing as Heritage is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
