Preview: Frankenmuth Eagles vs. Glenn Bobcats
Frankenmuth has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Glenn Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Frankenmuth took their match at home with ease, bagging a 72-36 win over Bridgeport. Given Frankenmuth's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Bridgeport is ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carson Knoll continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with five assists and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Sommerfield, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Glenn waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Swan Valley 69-27 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Glenn has managed all season.
Frankenmuth's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Glenn, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
Frankenmuth took their victory against Glenn in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 61-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Frankenmuth since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
