Preview: Moapa Valley Pirates vs. Cedar Reds
The Moapa Valley Pirates will be home for the holidays to greet the Cedar Reds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Moapa Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Foothill with a sharp 54-33 win on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Moapa Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savanna Burt, who scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Burt is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Haylie Western, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cedar earned a 43-31 win over Mountain View on Saturday. Given Cedar's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Mountain View is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dixie's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Moapa Valley's loss dropped theirs to 6-1.
