Basketball Game Preview: East Gaston Warriors vs. Burns Bulldogs

The East Gaston Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Burns Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Gaston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Burns likes a good challenge.

East Gaston lost 78-55 to Shelby on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 602nd, while the Golden Lions are ranked 233rd).

Meanwhile, Burns' game on Friday was all tied up 31-31 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They secured a 73-69 W over Bessemer City. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

East Gaston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Burns, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

East Gaston was taken down by Burns 89-58 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Burns' Colby Putnam, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 19 points and three steals.
