Baseball Game Preview: Loyola Cubs vs. Cypress Centurions

The Loyola Cubs will head out to take on the Cypress Centurions at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Loyola, who comes in off a win.

Loyola's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Gahr by a score of 3-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Gladiators: they've now won three in a row.

Noah Mendez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Murray, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Luca Marucci, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Cypress suffered their biggest defeat since April 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 10-2 to Sierra Canyon.

Cypress now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Loyola, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Loyola suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Cypress in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Loyola avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
