It was a proper cat-fight when Weslaco took on Economedes on Friday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 on Tuesday.

Diego Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Weslaco's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was John Reyna, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Weslaco is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Economedes, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season.
