Softball Recap: Amundsen Comes Up Short

Amundsen was the 11-0 winner over Payton College Prep when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Vikings fell 5-1 to the Grizzlies on Wednesday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Amundsen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lydia Hulliberger, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Hulliberger has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Amundsen's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Payton College Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 13-15-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amundsen will venture away from home to challenge Niles West at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Payton College Prep, they will take on Evanston at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
