League recap: League lead hangs in balance for Sunnyvale, Palmer this week

2A Region II District 13 league recap: 5/7/12

Palmer trails Sunnyvale by just 2.00 games in the league standings, which means there could have a new first-place team by next week.

Sunnyvale (23-4, 10-0) is red-hot, having won 16 straight games, the longest such streak in 2A Region II District 13. The streak was extended by another 2 games over the past week, includinga 5-3 victory over Grand Saline. Will Moss led Sunnyvale's offense with three hits and five RBIs this week.

Eustace's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing six hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories. The Bulldogs's pitchers have been charged with only 171 hits and have struck out 171 batters. Blake Ward is tops on the staff with 49 Ks.
