Volleyball Game Preview: Dover Green Wave vs. Alvirne Broncos

The Dover Green Wave will face off against the Alvirne Broncos at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Alvirne took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Dover, who comes in off a win.

Alvirne will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Dover extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Green Wave were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Spaulding. While the Green Wave didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

While Dover won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Alvirne came up short against Salem on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncos in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost nine in a row.

Dover's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Alvirne, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5-1.

Everything went Dover's way against Alvirne in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as Dover made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Wave since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
