Volleyball Recap: Lakewood Ranch Takes a Loss

Lakewood Ranch lost against Cardinal Mooney back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars.

While Lakewood Ranch had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-18.

Their offense was headlined by Kora Yanes and Ava Collins, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Adalynn Lund and her 13 assists. Addison Kersey controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Lakewood Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Cardinal Mooney, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood Ranch will face off against Tampa Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cardinal Mooney, they will square off against Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
