Preview: Taylor Ducks vs. La Grange Leopards
Taylor has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the La Grange Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Taylor didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Manor New Tech, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win.
Taylor's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Treos Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Richardson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. TJ Whybrew was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with three steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, La Grange gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Smithville 74-34 on the road. Winning may never get old, but La Grange sure is getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Taylor's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-15. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for La Grange, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 20 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.
Taylor was dealt a bruising 86-47 loss at the hands of La Grange when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of La Grange's Nathan Scott, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 12 rebounds. Now that Taylor knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
