Baseball Game Preview: Redbank Valley Bulldogs vs. Freedom Area Bulldogs

Redbank Valley will venture away from home to face off against Freedom Area at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Redbank Valley comes in on ten and Freedom Area on six.

Redbank Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenville, sneaking past 8-7.

Jaxon Huffman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Huffman wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Gould, who went 4-for-7 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave Gould a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Freedom Area was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Bishop McCort.

Tommy Ward was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Mason O'Donnell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Freedom Area's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of five runs across that stretch. As for Redbank Valley, their record now sits at 15-8.
