Softball Recap: Beachwood's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Beachwood came into Friday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Hawken Hawks with a sharp 11-1 win on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bison also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Ela Sasmaz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Sasmaz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alison Stephens was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Lily Grover, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Beachwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Beachwood's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Hawken, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beachwood will face off against Kirtland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hawken, they will be playing at home against Lutheran West at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Longhorns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.11 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
