Baseball Recap: Horizon Hawks vs. West Orange Warriors

Horizon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Orange Warriors. The Hawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Horizon got a good showing from Cooper Mapes, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits Mapes has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Horizon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reid Patton, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Horizon's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for West Orange, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Coming up, Horizon will host Cypress Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Orange, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-2 win against Dr. Phillips on the 4th.
