Texico is 2-8 against Eunice since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Texico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Loving hit Texico with a five-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolverines fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 7-6. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Texico saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Bowman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Eunice waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Eunice let Jose Calvillo and Tyson Coy run wild. Calvillo got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Coy went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Coy a new career-high. Misa Brito also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Eunice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Eunice's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Texico, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Texico has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Eunice struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Texico might still be hurting after the 24-5 defeat they got from Eunice when the teams last played last Saturday. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
