Recap: Horseshoe Bend Mustangs vs. Vision

If the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs were feeling good off their 75-30 takedown of Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Horseshoe Bend took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vision on Saturday. Horseshoe Bend was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Vision apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Loss or not, Horseshoe Bend got some senior leadership from Layth Bromgard who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 27 rebounds and Kaelun Jones who scored 16 points along with four steals. Bromgard scored a full 37.8% of Horseshoe Bend's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Drake, who scored six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vision to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Ingram, who scored 17 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Ingram scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Bay, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Horseshoe Bend has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Vision, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horseshoe Bend will take on Council at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Council is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Vision, they will be playing at home against Wilder at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wilder is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
