Softball Preview: Sickles Gryphons vs. Alonso Ravens        
        
		
            The Sickles Gryphons will take on the Alonso Ravens at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Alonso took a loss in their last  match and will be looking to turn the tables on Sickles, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four  defeats in a row, Sickles  turned things around against Blake  on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Yellow Jackets  an   18-0 shutout. Considering the Gryphons have won seven games by more than five  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Zoe Mello and  Taylor Morrissey made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Mello   pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Morrissey   pitched one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate,  Mello  scored three  runs while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances, while  Morrissey  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more,  Morrissey posted two  RBI, the most she's  had since back in March.

 In other batting news, Sickles got a  massive  performance out of  Kalyssa Austin, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3. Austin has been hot recently, having  posted three or more  hits the last four times she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Paula Pumarejo, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Alonso didn't have quite enough to beat Steinbrenner on Tuesday and fell  4-3. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Laine Anderson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  Makenna Sturgis, who  went 1-for-2 with two  RBI.
 Sickles' win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Alonso, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
 Sickles skirted past Alonso  2-1 in their previous matchup  back in February of 2023. Will the Gryphons repeat their success,  or do  the Ravens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
