Statesville suffers 19th straight loss on the road

Recap: Statesville Greyhounds vs. North Lincoln Knights

If the Statesville Greyhounds were feeling good off their 52-12 takedown of the West Iredell Warriors last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Statesville had to suffer through a rough 60-15 loss at the hands of North Lincoln. Statesville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-1.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ally Smith, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Smith is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Black, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Statesville dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for North Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.

Statesville will be playing in front of their home fans against East Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in East Lincoln's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests. As for North Lincoln, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickory at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Hickory is ranked 172nd, while North Lincoln is ranked 169th).
