Baseball Recap: Exeter Township Triumphs

Exeter Township proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Berks Catholic Saints 7-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2016.

Mason Goodhart made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jake Hafer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Exeter Township hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Exeter Township's record is now 15-6. As for Berks Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.

Exeter Township wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 loss against Wilson on the 8th. As for Berks Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fleetwood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
