Basketball Recap: La Vega Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

La Vega extended their winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Angela Carroll. The La Vega Pirates breezed by the Gatesville Hornets to the tune of 87-29 on Tuesday thanks in part to Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten boards. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alaysia Gude, who posted 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games she's played.

La Vega is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Gatesville, they now have a losing record at 13-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Vega will take on China Spring at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. La Vega knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully China Spring likes a good challenge. Gatesville has already played their next game (against Lorena), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
