The Macomb Bombers will venture away from home to square off against the Biggsville West Central Heat at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Macomb will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Monmouth-Roseville on Tuesday. The Bombers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Titans. With that win, the Bombers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Kendyl Danner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lauren Bishop was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Schmalshof, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Macomb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, while Biggsville West Central put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Galva. The Heat blew past the Wildcats 22-0. The Heat might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by nine runs or more this season.
Like Macomb, Biggsville West Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Addie Seitz. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Seitz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Higgins, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Kayleeann Tomson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Biggsville West Central pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Macomb, their record is now 7-14.
Macomb couldn't quite get it done against Biggsville West Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Can the Bombers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
