Softball Recap: Bohemia Manor Gets the Win

Bohemia Manor hadn't done well against Patterson Mill recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Huskies 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Huskies on Wednesday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Lyla Wescoat ('27) Hofstra was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camille Mattucci ('26) Cecil, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Bohemia Manor lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Bohemia Manor's record now sits at 12-2. As for Patterson Mill, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Bohemia Manor and Patterson Mill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings. The Eagles will face off against Perryville at 3:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (21 vs. 150). Meanwhile, Patterson Mill (ranked 32nd) will meet Joppatowne (ranked 180th) at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
