Basketball Recap: Ascend Leadership Academy Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Ascend Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Clover Garden School Grizzlies. The Aviators lost against the Grizzlies in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 65-36 score last time.

Despite the loss, Ascend Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Omar Rodriguez, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Zaedyn McCullum was another key player, putting up seven points.

Ethan Saunders produced another solid performance going 7-for-10 on his way to 14 points and eight boards for Clover Garden School. Saunders is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jacksom Warren, who earned eight points.

Ascend Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Clover Garden School, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Coming up, Ascend Leadership Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Riverside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Aviators will need to watch out since the Royals have now posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games. As for Clover Garden School, they are taking a road trip to take on Southern Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Grizzlies' defense better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 63.1 points per game this season.
