Basketball Recap: Jefferson City Falls to Rolla in First Game of Season

Jefferson City unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 54-40 fall against the Rolla Bulldogs on Monday. The Jays' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row dating back to last season.

Rolla's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mariah Watkins, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 19 points and four steals. Akaela Caquelin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Rolla and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Jefferson City will head out to take on Ozark at 5:45 p.m. on December 17th. As for Rolla, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Blair Oaks at 5:30 p.m.
