Softball Recap: Holliston Panthers vs. Millis Mohawks
If Holliston was feeling good fresh off their 11-2 takedown of Westwood last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Millis Mohawks on Wednesday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mohawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Emily Hegerich put in work no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. Hegerich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one double. That triple was her first of the season.
Hegerich wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emma Kampersal, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Kampersal hit this season. Grace Schoenberg was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Holliston's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Millis, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-3.
Looking ahead, Holliston will welcome Wayland at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Millis, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hopkinton at 6:30 p.m. on the 28th.
