Flag Football Recap: Valley Center Comes Up Short

Valley Center started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Sage Creek. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 14-12 on Monday. The Jaguars' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it ten in a row.

Despite the loss, Valley Center still got an impressive performance from Mykayla Degen, who rushed for 122 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Degen's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain her lofty yards per carry total. 87 of Degen's passing yards were hauled in by Jasmina Guachino, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Valley Center's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Sage Creek, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-11.

Coming up, Valley Center will head out to take on San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Jaguars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Sage Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tri-City Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
