Baseball Recap: Burlington Christian Academy Find Success

Burlington Christian Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged out the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots 2-1. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cooper Kelly made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Kelly wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mark Primm, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Adam Baughman also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Burlington Christian Academy's record now sits at 23-1. As for Freedom Christian Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 22-6 record.

Burlington Christian Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
