Preview: Catalyst-Maria Wolves vs. Richards Warriors
Catalyst-Maria is 1-0 against Richards since September of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Catalyst-Maria Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Richards Warriors at 3:45 p.m. Catalyst-Maria is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Catalyst-Maria fell victim to Englewood Stem's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 36-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Richards' three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Agricultural Science out 20-18. The victory was just what Richards needed coming off of a 34-8 loss in their prior matchup.
Richards' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quincy Johnson led the charge by rushing for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Antorion Abron, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Richards' victory bumped their season record to 2-6 while Catalyst-Maria's loss dropped theirs to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Catalyst-Maria against Richards in their previous meeting back in September of 2016 as the team secured a 44-12 victory. Will Catalyst-Maria repeat their success, or does Richards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
