The Tascosa Rebels will venture away from home to face off against the Windthorst Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tascosa has three straight wins, Windthorst has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Tascosa had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Legacy on Friday. Tascosa never let Legacy get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Rebels have posted since February 14th.
Zariah Delgado made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last seven matches. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Boston Galvan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Kaylei San Miguel was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Tascosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Windthorst didn't have quite enough to beat Childress on Friday and fell 3-2.
Karissa Fillingim and Kamdyn Neal did some serious damage despite the final result: Fillingim scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances, while Neal scored a run while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Tascosa back to even at 11-11. As for Windthorst, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Tascosa hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Windthorst struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Tascosa was able to grind out a solid win over Windthorst in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, winning 13-10. Will Tascosa repeat their success, or does Windthorst have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
