Softball Game Preview: Dyersburg Trojans vs. Brighton Cardinals

The Dyersburg Trojans will head out to face off against the Brighton Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Wednesday, Dyersburg came up short against South Gibson and fell 7-3. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Brighton didn't have quite enough to beat Houston on Monday and fell 5-4.

Laney Lawson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Maggie Livingston was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Dyersburg now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Brighton, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-10-2.

Dyersburg beat Brighton 6-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
