Basketball Recap: Paw Paw Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Taylor Carder and Donavan Tanouye

After flying high against Paden City last Saturday, Paw Paw came back down to earth. The Paw Paw Pirates might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the East Hardy Cougars an easy 74-48 victory. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-17.

Paw Paw's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Donavan Tanouye, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals, and Taylor Carder, who posted 23 points. That was a full 41.7% of Paw Paw's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Paw Paw now has a losing record at 1-2. As for East Hardy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paw Paw will host Union at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Hardy, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the East Hardy Cougars duke it out with the Harman Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
