Basketball Recap: Mogadore Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Mogadore had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They secured a 43-37 W over the Crestwood Red Devils. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 49-46 win the Red Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Mogadore can attribute much of their success to Ari Tompkins, who went 8 of 12 en route to 18 points and seven boards. Kasey Bolyard was another key player, putting up ten points.

Mogadore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 44 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hannah Ward, who posted 15 points. Ward is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abby Guyette, who had six points and six steals.

Mogadore's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points per game. As for Crestwood, they moved to 15-5 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Mogadore and Crestwood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Mogadore will square off against Lake Center Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 546 places (200 vs. 746). Similarly, Crestwood (ranked 163rd) will meet Wickliffe (ranked 553rd) at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
