Baseball Game Preview: Crittenden County Rockets vs. Trigg County Wildcats

For the second straight game, Crittenden County will face off against Trigg County. The Rockets will take on the Wildcats at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Crittenden County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Crittenden County lost 10-4 to Trigg County on Tuesday.

For Trigg County's part, Chase Hampton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaden Allen, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. James Garnett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact: Trigg County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Crittenden County's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Trigg County, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Crittenden County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trigg County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts.
