Volleyball Recap: Murphy Takes a Loss

Murphy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Cherokee Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-15.

Cherokee found their leader in sophomore Lilly Lossiah, who had five digs and three aces. Lossiah has been hot, having also posted 16 or more assists the last seven times she's played. Dvdaya Swimmer was another key player, getting 19 digs.

Murphy's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Cherokee, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-6.

Coming up, Murphy will challenge Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cherokee, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against North Iredell on the 19th.
