Softball Recap: Stuttgart Comes Up Short

Stuttgart had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 10-9 to make it six. They lost 12-3 to the DeWitt Dragons. If the Ricebirds were looking for revenge after losing 28-0 to the Dragons when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lily Griffin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Hadlee Currie also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for DeWitt, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.

On DeWitt's side, Khloe Llyod made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Llyod was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, DeWitt let Harley Grammer and Kimberly Hornbeck run wild. Grammer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Hornbeck went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Tori Ross was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Stuttgart will take on McGehee at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Ricebirds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. DeWitt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
