Basketball Game Preview: The Colorado Springs School Kodiaks vs. Calhan Bulldogs

The Colorado Springs School Kodiaks will challenge the Calhan Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Colorado Springs School came into their game last Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Miami-Yoder, falling 38-13. The Kodiaks were down 32-11 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Calhan entered their tilt with Crowley County on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-40 W against the Chargers.

Calhan found their leader in sophomore Fallyn Mallette, who posted six points and seven steals. Calhan is 4-1 when Mallette posts five or more steals, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Barnes, who earned two points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

Calhan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Calhan pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. As for The Colorado Springs School, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

The Colorado Springs School was dealt a bruising 45-6 defeat at the hands of Calhan when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can The Colorado Springs School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
