Football Recap: Lincoln Lyson and Jackson Enos Pace Baker Defense

The Baker Spartans came up short against the Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua Scotties on Friday and fell 27-20. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Scotties are ranked fifth).

Baker lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lincoln Lyson, who picked up 103 receiving yards and 2 scores. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 64 yards. Another player making a difference was Canden Coulter, who threw for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns (1 INT).

Baker didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lyson and Jackson Enos.

Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua found their leader in sophomore Reece Martin, who rushed for 88 yards and 1 TD, and also picked up 56 receiving yards.

Baker's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua, they have started the season off flawlessly and have a 2-0 record to show for it.

Baker and Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Spartans are set to face off against their familiar foe Roundup at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua will take on their in-conference opponent Cut Bank at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
