Basketball Recap: Hershey Takes a Loss

Hershey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 59-22 defeat at the hands of the Cozad Haymakers. The Panthers lost against the Haymakers in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 37-31 score last time.

Cozad got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Olliver Davis out in front who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Kellen Shoemaker, who put up nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Hershey's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cozad, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hershey won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Patrick's at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cozad, they and Valentine will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Cozad's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
