Baseball Game Preview: Hinsdale South Hornets vs. Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs

The Hinsdale South Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hinsdale South took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Proviso West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hornets had just enough and edged out the Panthers 3-2.

Meanwhile, Berwyn/Cicero Morton can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against York by a score of 9-6.

Noah Cholico looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Richmond, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Guzman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

Hinsdale South's record now sits at 10-15-1. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, their record is now 6-21.

Hinsdale South came up short against Berwyn/Cicero Morton when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 8-5. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
