Basketball Recap: Mayci Litherland Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Boonville

Heritage Hills won the last time they faced Boonville and things went their way on Thursday too. The Heritage Hills Patriots came out on top against the Boonville Pioneers by a score of 60-51. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Pioneers are ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Heritage Hills got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mayci Litherland out in front who posted 19 points. That's the most points Litherland has posted since back in January of 2024. Hadley Leibering was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Heritage Hills' victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9. As for Boonville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Heritage Hills has already played their next game (against Pike Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Boonville is taking a road trip to challenge Evansville Reitz at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evansville Reitz is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.
