Softball Recap: Winchester Red & Black vs. Burlington Red Devils
After flying high against Watertown on Wednesday, Winchester came back down to earth. The Red & Black came up short against the Burlington Red Devils on Friday, falling 19-8. The Red & Black were not able to make up for their loss to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Julia Legere made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carys Gugliotta, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Winchester dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Burlington, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Looking ahead, Winchester will challenge Arlington at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red & Black's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spy Ponders have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Burlington, they will welcome Westport at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
