Soccer Game Preview: El Campo vs. Bay City

The El Campo Ricebirds will head out on the road to challenge the Bay City Blackcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bay City better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when El Campo really get things going. El Campo blew past Rice Consolidated 7-2 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Ricebirds in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Bay City put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their undefeated season alive. They never let Palacios onto the board and left with a 7-0 win. Given the Blackcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Sharks are ranked 773rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bay City's offense was hitting Palacios from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal.

Bay City pushed their record up to 13-0-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five contests. As for El Campo, their win bumped their record up to 9-4-2.
