Volleyball Game Preview: Legacy Longhorns vs. Green Valley Gators

After both having extra time off, the Legacy Longhorns and the Green Valley Gators will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Legacy comes in on four and Green Valley on six.

Legacy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Pinecrest Academy Cadence by a score of 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-11, 24-26, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Green Valley made easy work of Doral Academy Red Rock on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Green Valley was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-12, 25-21.

Legacy better keep an eye on Ella Varner. She was instrumental in Green Valley's win, getting 14 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Varner has posted since back in August.

Green Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive contests.

Legacy's record now sits at 12-17. As for Green Valley, their record is now 29-11.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Legacy has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Green Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Legacy couldn't quite get it done against Green Valley in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 2-0. Can the Longhorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
